Family Fun Day
Sunday 3rd April saw the first ALK+ International Charity Fun Day, organised by friend of the charity, Kirsty Barnes.
Kirsty wanted to not only raise awareness of ALK+ cancers, she also wanted to raise much needed funds for all important life saving research. Together with the staff at The Greenfield Pub in Darwen they put on a fantastic day.
Kirsty says;
"Since meeting Joanna through social media, I just knew this was a charity I really wanted to get behind and support. ALK+ International is an incredible organisation and the fact that 100% of money raised goes to research is truly honourable. This is the first of many fundraisers I'll do for the Charity."
From raffle, to DJ, kids (and grown ups) sweet cones, football cards and community spirit in abundance, an amazing day was had and an incredible total raised.
The Greenfield added;
"It's been a privilege and an honour to host the first ALK+ International charity day."
Thank you to all involved in making it a truly memorable day.
To hold your own charity fun day, please get in contact and we'll be happy to help.
Skydive at 15,000 feet
On 8th April 2022, Kirsty and Maia took to the skies at Black Knights Parachute Centre in Lancaster and jumped from 15,000ft, the highest jump you can do in the UK, in aid of ALK+ International.
Kirsty said:
“I was terrified but there was never a doubt in my mind that I would jump. It was nothing compared to what ALK+ patients face daily and I was honoured to support the charity and do the skydive for ALK+ International.”
Maia added:
“I’ve always wanted to do a skydive and when the opportunity came up to jump for such an amazing cause, I just had to do it.”
The spectator area was filled with family and friends supporting the girls and the cheer when they landed was thunderous. It was a truly wonderful experience, Trustee Jo was honoured to be able to go and support the girls from the ground alongside their families.
A big THANK YOU to Kirsty and Maia!
