We wish to highlight someone we lost recently, a dear friend to our community who throughout her journey, worked tirelessly to raise awareness, promote research and do everything she possibly could do to help. We miss you Alix Burnard.

Alix was diagnosed, aged 28, with stage IV, ALK+ lung cancer and went through all her treatment lines very quickly. She very sadly passed away 18 months later in January this year aged 29.

Alix's partner Jamie has decided to continue her work. He is now taking a huge step by raising funds for research by taking on a 4x4x48 challenge - Run 4 miles, every 4 hours for 48 hours. You can view his fundraising page here.

We are asking you, our supporters, our community, to help in whatever way you can. The challenge will take place the weekend of Alix’s 30th birthday (28th-30th April). You can help by:

- Donating to help others like Alix by funding research into ALK+ cancers.

- Participating in Jamie's event by running, cycling or walking 4 miles, so he knows he isn't alone and so we know we aren't alone. Share a picture or video with the hashtag #4forAlix tag us and @jamiematthews

“I was terrified but there was never a doubt in my mind that I would jump. It was nothing compared to what ALK+ patients face daily and I was honoured to support the charity and do the skydive for ALK+ International.”

Maia added:

“I’ve always wanted to do a skydive and when the opportunity came up to jump for such an amazing cause, I just had to do it.”
